Formaggio - Un Nuit en Provence

Last night I ended my summer with a great Provençal dinner courtesy of Formaggio. 

We began with an aperitif: La Tomate, a mix of Henri Bardouin Pastis, grenadine, and water.

Les Collations was the first dish. It was comprised of marinated goat cheese with olives and bread. This was paired with 2011 Domaine du Bagnol Cassis, which also went fairly well with the following dish, Soupe Glacée à la Tomate avec Orange, iced tomato soup with orange. 

Crémeux Anchoïade avec Crêpe was up next, a purée of anchovy, garlic, and olive oil on a chickpea crêpe. It went wonderfully with the 2013 Château Valcombe Rosé.

On to the main course (not the entrée)- Porc au Romarin et aux Aubergines and Ratatouille Bohémienne. The pork was served with Rosemary and eggplant, with a bit of cheddar-like cheese melted on top, and it was so good with the 2012 Le Pigeoulet en Provence. To clear the palate before our final course, we had a mesclun salad flavored with lemon and mustard, Lou Mesclun aux Citron et Moutarde.

The night finished up with some excellent Glace à la Lavande aux Sables à l'Orange, lavender ice cream with orange blossom cookies. The creaminess of the ice cream was paired with the sweetness of the dessert wine, 2011 Domaine de Durban Muscat de Beaumes de Venise.
