The Table at Season to Taste

What's better than a chance to try a new restaurant with good friends? So when I heard a few of my best food nerd friends were headed to The Table at Season to Taste, I was ecstatic to be invited. The Table is a pop-up restaurant conceived by Chef Kwame Onwuachi, Chef Carl Dooley, and Chef Mary Edinger. Both Kwame and Carl are featured on the current season of Top Chef, and they streamed the current episode during dinner, which was really neat.

We began with appetizers: crispy potato dauphine with aioli and charred scallions and then warm sheep's milk feta with house-made pita, roasted sweet potato, and pistachio. The appetizers were excellent, but even cooler was seeing the open kitchen layout, where everyone's hard work was on display.

We began with some bread and creamy butter, and decided to drink Le Pere sparkling pear cider with our meal. Up first were a few extra treats: chicken consommé with pork tongue, mushrooms, and scallions and chicken and lamb on a rice cracker.

For the first course, I picked Chef Kwame's dish: beet-cured Hamachi with avocado, romaine, and jalapeño. It was amazing, but not quite as good as the second course, Chef Carl's house-made garganelli with mussels, roasted broccoli, and Calabrian chili.

I went back to Chef Kwame for the third course: hundred day dry-aged Wagyu with sauce soubise, pickled quail egg, and fermented parsnip. It was as delicious as you can imagine, and I followed it up with a nice sweet treat by Chef Mary Edinger: a dark chocolate marquise with butterscotch, hazelnuts, and coffee ice cream.
