A Grand Tour of European Cheeses

This past Tuesday was Cheese Tuesday at L'Espalier. We began with a nice summer salad of tomato-leek terrine with salami etna and winter truffles, paired with Cidrerie du Vulcain's Cidre de Fer from Fribourg, Switzerland. My wonderful friends also made sure there was a Jack Rose cocktail waiting for me when I arrived.
Eugen Müller's 2014 Forster Mariengarten, a Kabinett Riesling from Pfalz, Germany, and one of my friend Tara's favorite wines, was up next, served with a delicious field harvest gazpacho with Maine lobster.
Roasted veal loin with burnt citrus, ramp, and pork belly was amazingly well paired with Couvent de Thorins 2014 Moulin-á-Vent.
Finally it was time for the Grand Tour of European Cheese; this month, the cheeses were paired with 2015 Château de Montmal from Fitou, France.
